Manco-Abbott Real Estate Management Meets the Challenge of Watering Restrictions
Manco-Abbott Real Estate Management, a leading Property Management firm in the Central Valley and Central Coast of CA, challenged its team to explore more aggressive opportunities for water conservation, while also protecting customer properties and landscape assets during drought-related water restrictions imposed in the Central Valley due to drought and legislative mandates for cities to cut water use by 20%.
Manco-Abbott researched water conservation alternatives, finding Aqua Cents Water Management to offer the highest potential water savings for a sustainable period of 5-7 years. In addition to Aqua Cents water-absorbing hydrogels, expected to save up to 50% water use, ACLS-an Aqua Cents Partner, will monitor and manage irrigation from a single dashboard that can be controlled from their offices, or by cell phone. The landscape is watered only when needed, with automatic shut down for forecasted weather events
Maintained property aesthetics and Turf health during 2 day/week Watering Restrictions (50% reduced watering days)
Positioned to achieve 35%-50% water savings when drought conditions subside and properties can return to standard watering schedules
4 of the 6 Apartment Communities utilize web based controllers, allowing monitoring and management by ACLS an Aqua Cents Partner
“We are committed to conserving water as a matter of practice, drought or not. However, with properties restricted to 2 day/week irrigation schedules, we needed a solution to meet these mandates without permanent risk to the health of the turf on properties we manage. A growing number of Fresno residents are choosing to live in Apartment and HOA communities. One of the benefits they site is the aesthetics, and an environment for recreation and relaxation provided by the shared expanse of common area and green space. We want to maintain that space and the additional benefits that green space contributes to an increased sense of community. The Aqua Cents solution allows us to accomplish this and meet our goals of water conservation for our community.
